The search for missing actor Cole Brings Plenty has come to a devastating end. The 27-year-old, known for his role on the Yellowstone spinoff 1923, was found dead on Friday in a wooded area southwest of Kansas City.
Cole had been reported missing since Sunday amidst a domestic violence investigation by police in Lawrence, Kansas. Authorities alleged he fled the area driving his Ford Explorer SUV after an incident involving a woman screaming for help.
Despite his family, including his uncle and fellow 1923 actor Moses Brings Plenty, desperately trying to locate him and raise awareness through missing person fliers, the worst fears were realized with Friday’s grim discovery.
“Our office is still investigating this incident,” a sheriff’s office spokesperson stated, not revealing any details about the nature of Brings Plenty’s death.
The young actor’s disappearance had seemed baffling to those close to him. Moses Brings Plenty expressed doubt that his nephew would commit domestic violence or purposely evade authorities.
“Cole’s sudden disappearance without telling anyone his whereabouts is anomalous,” the elder Brings Plenty wrote on Instagram earlier this week, pleading with police to find his nephew, whose phone had been off since Sunday.
Sadly, after days of searching, Cole Brings Plenty’s life was tragically cut short under circumstances still being investigated. His father Joe Brings Plenty issued a statement mourning the loss.
“We would like to thank everyone who came to walk beside us as we searched for my son,” he said. “I learned this week how many people knew the goodness in Cole’s heart and loved him.”
