Angelina Jolie Fights Brad Pitt’s ‘Abusive’ Bid for Her Past NDAs in Winery Dispute

Angelina Jolie is pushing back against her ex-husband Brad Pitt’s efforts to obtain copies of every non-disclosure agreement (NDA) she has entered into over the past two decades. The move comes amid their ongoing legal war over the former couple’s stake in the $164 million Château Miraval winery they co-owned in France.

In newly filed court documents obtained by Page Six, Jolie’s lawyers argue that Pitt’s request to review all of her past NDAs with third parties is “expensive,” “wasteful,” “unreasonable” and even constitutes “abusive conduct” towards her. They claim the demand is an irrelevant invasion of privacy that could expose confidential information about Jolie’s compensation and financial dealings with other parties over the years.

The crux of the dispute relates to Brad Pitt’s alleged attempt to have Angelina Jolie sign an “onerous” and “expansive” NDA before they could complete a deal to disentangle their interests in the Miraval estate and vineyards. Jolie has claimed in court that Pitt wanted the NDA to extend beyond just covering the Miraval deal itself, alleging it was actually aimed at muzzling her from discussing accusations that he was physically abusive towards her and their children.

This includes an alleged incident in 2016 on a private flight from France to Los Angeles where Jolie says Pitt instigated the first instance of “turning his physical abuse on the children.” Jolie filed for divorce shortly after this event.

Pitt’s side has countered that Jolie has signed many other NDAs throughout her career, so her objections to his proposed NDA could not have truly been the “deal-ender” over Miraval that she claims. Hence, his pursuit of her past contracts containing non-disclosure clauses.

However, Angelina Jolie’s new filing draws a “fundamental and obvious difference” between routine NDAs and Pitt’s alleged attempts to “cover up his abuse of his own family.” Her attorneys accuse Pitt of attempting to “impeach” and undermine Jolie’s stated reasons for objecting to his NDA through an “abusive” tactic that could set a “dangerous” precedent for other domestic abuse victims.

With a hearing scheduled for May 16, the NDA dispute is just the latest front in the former Hollywood couple’s increasingly bitter legal war over Miraval and other assets. A resolution appears far off as both parties continue to fight over the truth behind the collapse of their once-blockbuster union.
