Media tycoon Rupert Murdoch has walked down the aisle once again at the age of 93. The former Fox News mogul married Elena Zhukova, a 67-year-old retired molecular biologist, in a ceremony at his vineyard estate in Bel Air, California this past weekend.
This marks the 5th marriage for the Australian-born billionaire businessman. Murdoch’s News Corp company released official photos celebrating the newly married couple shortly after they tied the knot on Saturday. Their engagement was first announced back in March.
Zhukova was previously married to a Russian billionaire named Alexander Zhukov. Her daughter from that marriage, Dasha, was once wed to Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich before their divorce. So Murdoch’s new wife comes from powerful elite circles in Russia.
The weekend nuptials come on the heels of Rupert Murdoch ceding control of his massive media empire last fall. He stepped down as leader of both Fox Corporation and News Corp, handing over the reins to his son Lachlan. However, Murdoch maintained he would stay involved in an advisory role.
This latest marriage for the 93-year-old mogul adds another chapter to his decades-long influence and legacy. Rupert Murdoch got his start inheriting a newspaper in Australia from his father in 1952. Over the following years, he built a global news and entertainment juggernaut.
