Fans of Jennifer Lopez will have to wait a bit longer to see the superstar live in concert. The singer recently made the decision to cancel her anticipated “This Is Me… Live” tour that was slated to run from late June through the end of August. The tour was meant to promote her latest studio album “This Is Me…Now” which arrived in February.
The announcement came directly from Live Nation and Lopez herself on Friday. In a message to her fans, the 54-year-old singer/actress explained that the reason for the cancellation is to take some much-needed personal time with her family and loved ones. Lopez expressed being “completely heartsick and devastated” about disappointing her fans but felt it was “absolutely necessary” to prioritize her personal life at this time.
While the tour postponement is certainly a letdown for Bennifer fans who were eager to see Lopez live, the decision allows her to remain focused on her closest relationships amidst rumored marital tensions with her husband Ben Affleck. The two have been spending time apart recently as Affleck films a new movie project.
On the professional front, Jennifer Lopez has plenty to celebrate despite the touring halt. Her latest Netflix film “Atlas” has already hit #1 in 55 countries since its release last week. She will also soon begin work on several new movies, including a musical adaptation of the play “Kiss of the Spider Woman.”
For ticketholders, Live Nation has announced that all Ticketmaster purchases will automatically receive refunds. The concert promoter is surely disappointed to pull the plug on Jennifer Lopez’s first tour in 5 years after her “This Is Me…Now” album rollout. However, the pop icon has vowed to “make it up” to her fans with a future tour once her personal life has been attended to.
