During a backstage brawl on last week’s episode of Monday Night Raw, Ripley sustained significant damage to her right arm, leaving her no choice but to vacate the title she had held for an incredible 380 days.
The injury, first reported by PWInsider’s Mike Johnson, comes as a devastating blow to Ripley’s momentum and the WWE Universe’s expectations. The Australian powerhouse had been on an unstoppable run, defeating the likes of Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch to cement her status as the face of the women’s division.
The 27-year-old superstar’s reign as Women’s World Champion was nothing short of historic. She had become only the seventh woman in WWE history to achieve the coveted Women’s Triple Crown, and the fifth to complete the Women’s Grand Slam.
